Low fat diets and restrictive diets are a common cause of HA (Hypothalamic Amenorrhea), which is where the hypothalamus gland in your brain (which is responsible for regulating the body including the reproductive system) shuts down the reproductive system in this scenario due to lack of nutrients (usually fats and carbs). This in turn stops a woman’s monthly cycle. There are many reasons a woman’s period can stop but this is an all too common one.

Simply put, our bodies need (healthy) fat and carbs to function optimally.

This is not a healthy situation as women need their periods to achieve good health (as annoying as they can seem!) and this situation can have other negative effects such as creating poor mental health and later triggering other serious health conditions.
