BPA (Bisphenol A) is a harmful plastic compound. Dr Kara Fitzgerald’s blog recently brought to our attention a study that was published last year, that stated: having high levels of bisphenol A (BPA) in the body is associated with a 49% increased risk of death within 10 years.” The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA Network Open).

BPA – One of the Most Studied Synthetic Chemicals to Date

As Dr Fitzgerald’s blog rightfully pointed out, association does not necessarily equal causation in these studies. The blog also writes: “but this study suggests that chronic BPA exposure may reduce one’s life expectancy within a decade. BPA is one of the most studied synthetic chemicals to date: For decades, scientists have voiced concerns about these chemicals because they disrupt our bodies’ natural hormones, leading to a variety of fertility problems in women and men. It’s also completely pervasive, found in the urine of nearly every American adult.

Where is BPA Found?

BPA compound is an environmental toxin, and is usually found in the following items:

  • plastic plates,
  • paper towels,
  • toilet paper,
  • receipts,
  • plastic food containers,
  • dental materials,
  • canned food,
  • infant formula containers,
  • plastic wrap,
  • shower curtains.

BPA – A Truly Nasty Endocrine Disrupter!

It is important to avoid your exposure to BPA as it is a straight-up endocrine disrupter, which means it affects the hormones in your body, especially if you want to improve whole-body health.
