Having grown up in Morocco, and still having immediate family there, we have been able to source the best quality Argan oil available. We have developed a personal relationship with the families producing the oil and visit them in their village regularly. We only purchase oil in small quantities, regularly  throughout the year, to ensure the oil is always fresh and never remains in storage for long periods.

The women of the village are responsible for the cultivation and harvesting of the Argan nuts, which are collected and crushed by hand to remove the kernels, before being sent to the cooperative to be cold pressed by machine. We buy directly from the villagers, ensuring they get a fair price for their produce, which is often their only source of income.

Our Argan Oil is cold pressed and has internationally recognised ECOCERT* organic products certification. Pure organic Argan oil has a distinct slightly nutty, earthy scent, which varies in intensity from batch to batch, but which disappears a few minutes after application. If you have not used organic Argan oil before, you may find the scent unusual. Our unrefined oil is argan oil in its purest form. Deodorised argan oil is subjected to intense heat and additives making it non-organic and we have chosen not to stock it.

Please note that Argan oil is available both in Morocco and from some UK on-line sites, labelled as 100% organic oil. However it may not be 100% pure Argan oil, as it is regularly mixed with other organic oils such as sunflower oil.  If a seller is using the description ‘Pure Organic Argan oil’ please ask them if their oil is 100% undiluted Argan oil before you purchase.

Truly Moroccan Oil is 100% pure undiluted Argan oil. It can be diluted by the purchaser with other oils of their choice eg: sweet almond, coconut, rapeseed etc… This makes our oil much more cost effective than cheaper ready mixed oils. However, we highly recommend the use of neat oil as a moisturiser.

Truly the ultimate natural beauty companion, this multipurpose wonder may be used to replenish moisture loss on face, hair, body and nails: Argan oil can be used neat on the skin as an all over body moisturiser. It is particularly effective on dry skin. In addition a few drops can be applied to the face and neck morning and night to moisturise the skin. If you have particularly dry skin, use Argan oil as a serum and apply first followed by a day or night cream.

The oil is also good for cuticles and nails: just massage a few drops into the nail. To use as a hair conditioner, warm a few drops in the palms of your hands and apply to the hair. Wrap the hair in a towel or shower cap for 5-20 minutes then shampoo as normal. Some people find the oil also works as an anti frizz treatment if a few drops are applied neat to the ends of dry hair.

Just a word of warning: if you have been using products containing silicone, you will need to wash your hair with a deep cleansing shampoo to remove any residue first. Silicone is added to many hair treatments as it coats the surface of the hair and helps it look smooth and shiny. However, this coating prevents Argan oil from being absorbed and the oil will just sit on the hair shaft, leaving it greasy and lank.
