If I could pick two words to describe this face cream I have been sampling for two months – they would be dreamy, and creamy! My ‘day cream’ started off as a night cream as Anna McGurran, founder and hand crafter of Gaia Creams suggested it would suit my skin perfectly for both day and night time use.
My Gaia Creams day cream arrived so beautifully packaged. When I opened up the delicately wrapped cerise pink tissue paper and saw all sorts of herbs, including my favourite lavender, fall out of the inside of the envelope I knew straight away that this cream had been made with love and care.
Anna noted down the type of skin I have, and said she would prescribe and formulate my own recipe for a day cream. I mean how divine is that?! This was such a personal touch that you often only associate with companies that charge a small fortune for hand crafting you a cream of this size! So as she was the expert I went along with her suggestion. Prior to trying Anna’s creams, she had told me that her creams were actually very intelligent. This really intrigued me. Having a love for nature and knowing the capabilities of its wonderful ‘foliage’ for your insides - I could believe it would be great for your skin too if used correctly…
The ingredients of my day cream that was called ‘Amy’s Night Cream For Revitalised And Fortified Skin’ were:

The ingredients were amazingly natural and the cream to touch felt so dreamy, and very rich, I loved this especially knowing it was packed with such nourishing and well chosen ingredients!
The cream went on well, and for the first I would say seven days felt a little strange on my skin – not good or bad – just a little ‘oily’. Then after this time my skin felt so good every time I applied it so it was clearly just an adjustment period. I learnt that applying a little spritz of clean purifed water to my face before applying the cream helped it to absorb a little easier. Having noticed this change in feeling when the cream was put on my skin every day, after seven(ish) days, I am so convinced the creams really are intelligent as it ‘adjusted’ to my skin type and then made my skin feel great.
The cream was very rich, but did not cause any breakouts – so this shatters the myth that oil rich creams will block pores, so long as you choose the right ones and use them in the right proportions. As it neither enhanced or minimised my pores. This cream also worked great underneath my face powder foundation. The actual jar it came in was made of glass which is excellent as plastic is a worry with all the toxic chemicals it is made from which do leach into your products. The ingredients I gave you above were also it – no nasty fillers, no cheap junk, nothing toxic!
The price was £15.00 for 30ml’s, and it lasted me just over two months. So this breaks down to around £7.00 a month – I thought this was pretty affordable considering how all the ingredients were organic.
You have to work out for yourself the right amount of cream for your skins particular individual needs, as there are no ‘instructions’ for your skin type on it. I initially would apply what would feel like too much, then sometimes not enough as my skin would feel still dry in parts. (This first winter back in the UK after five years has really played havoc with my skin!) Looking back though, I think this was just part of my skin adjusting to the cream. I am not quite sure how it does this entirely but all I know it is pretty amazing as the cream totally suits my skin now and did not continue to feel oily, or cause any adverse reactions.
There was no logo to say the ingredients were certified organic, but I realise my cream came with sample packaging, and not regular packaging which would be given to someone not sampling the product – so I am not sure whether on regular packaging this is there. The lid was made of plastic so this would obviously be better for the product if it was not, but at least the jar which the product is touching is made of glass.
The product also has a short life span of approximately 2 months because it is so natural, but so long as you use it everyday you will be fine. And this really is better and not really a negative for me. But for some people it may be…
Overall I am rating this day cream as 4/5 green leaves on the Great Health Naturally rating chart.
This product was so well made, by hand, locally in the UK, is not tested on animals and made my skin feel great. It included amazing ingredients that I wanted to eat with minimal packaging, what packaging came is all recyclable or could be reused. The product is all organic so is not harming the planet in any way shape or form. Also makes an excellent cream to apply to your cuticles, and any cuts that need help healing! (I did extra experimenting! – I mean why not when the ingredients are just so damn amazing!) This cream would also make a great gift – it already comes packaged like one! I felt so special receiving this!
Only thing I would say to improve this product really is to put the products organic certification on to prove the ingredients are certified organic. I am also sure Anna would be more than helpful in guiding you with the amounts to use for your specific skin type as she replied to all my questions on the product straight away.
