Encouraging kids to be part of mealtimes should also include encouraging kids to be part of the planning stages (i.e. when you create your shopping list and when you go and purchase your food).

These small acts of food education pay off when repeated as when they are older, they will know how to look after themselves and their bodies without relying on convenience foods and takeaway foods.

This photo was taken recently when we visited the USA, in the organic dry goods section of Lidl. He loved having autonomy over the foods he thought we all would enjoy and he also knows the value of choosing organically farmed food crops vs. conventional.

Teaching kids as much as you can about food education when they are young, however creatively that might look, is the ‘secret’ to ensuring they have the tools to make healthy decisions as adults.
