With headlines all over the place in the last few months, stating that our NHS health care system is over stretched, and in worst cases causing life threatening mistakes – I ask the question: is it time to consider choosing private health care?

There are many on the market to choose from and one that particularly caught my attention if you are looking at going down this route is Aviva Private Health Insurance.

Aviva Health Insurance Review

I at one point never believed in private health care, because of the fact that for all of us who have or still do currently pay National Insurance here in the UK – this is ultimately how our National Healthcare System is funded at present, so I would think ‘why must I then pay more?’.

This was before I realised just how much of a mess the NHS is in currently. As we have illegal immigrants flying over to the UK to have their babies here and demand they must be seen as it is an emergency (most getting away with not paying too), to our own UK citizens not practicing preventative health care enough and abusing the NHS by being grossly overweight, having diabetes type 2, and many other diseases that are caused by our modern way of living. That could more times than not, be prevented through improving diet and lifestyle – the basic fundamentals we all need to be taught in childhood, that we are currently not.

So, it has since researching all of this been brought it to my attention that for some people, choosing private health care insurance, may just be what you need.

There are many pro’s and con’s to the ‘should I choose private health care?’ argument. But today, I want to highlight some of the positives from one example of good value for money private health insurance, Aviva Health.

Benefits of choosing Aviva Health Private Insurance:

  • Able to choose your own doctor and hospital from an approved list – Choices are something we don’t often get enough of when it comes to the NHS so this is a big plus
  • No limits on visiting hours having no restrictions I believe will get more people to come visit you, and thus should speed up your recovery time because you will not feel so shut out from the world or lonely/depressed
  • No queues well this one speaks for itself really, and can save so many people many hours wasted queuing. I think this will really resonate with mothers and the elderly when it is just not practical to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • You get your own private room again feeling safe, secure and relaxed is often missing from the overcrowded and often noisy NHS hospital wards
  • Consistent doctor visits – More likely to be seen by the same doctor time and time again, throughout your care in hospital
  • First 3 months are free As long as you haven’t had a private healthcare policy with us in the last 12 months, and you agree to hold the cover for a whole year, we’ll give you 3 months’ free cover. This applies to the first year of your policy and is only available if you pay monthly by direct debit
  • Market leading no claim discount – The best entry level no claim discount, that is up to 66% off your premium in year one. Currently, 82% of new customers qualify for a no claim discount of 66% on their Healthier Solutions private health care policy, in the first year

The above list of pro’s may sound like a dream to many, and sure – before taking out any policy you MUST check the con’s (especially the list of what is not included in the care plan you choose). And yes – I feel we should be already receiving this level of care by the NHS, but sadly not all of us do. Hence, why there is a place for private medical insurance here in the UK, and if you can afford what can sometimes be a as low as £7.50 a month and as much as around £50 a month for your specific health care plan, and they cover the treatments you think you may need or wish to have – then I say go for it.

You also never know when you or a loved one may need the care in the future, and having back up in taking out a health plan with Aviva Health, that gives you high level of hospital care could be the peace of mind you need.
